Hello, and welcome to my website. In these pages I hope to describe something of who I am, so that you can decide if I might be the right counsellor or supervisor for you. You are welcome to phone me or send an email to find out more.
I first had therapy myself in my early 20s. I found it so helpful and inspiring that I decided to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist myself. Nearly 30 years on, I feel just as passionate about the potential for therapy to change people’s lives for the better.
I work as a psychotherapist and counsellor in private practice, both in person and online. I offer short-term counselling, longer-term psychotherapy, creative therapy and dreamwork.
I also offer clinical supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists, people working in caring professions and trainee counsellors.
Counselling and psychotherapy can support you, by giving you space to explore your thoughts and feelings with somebody outside your day-to-day life. This can help you gain more clarity. The following words from the serenity prayer are an inspiration to me:
…grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference”Niebuhr
Therapy can help us find this wisdom within ourselves.
In shorter-term counselling we may work on a particular issue over an agreed number of sessions. We would clarify what you hope to gain from counselling, and ensure that we work towards what feels achievable in the available time.
In longer-term work we notice the emerging themes that recur over time. Sometimes these are the result of experiences from our past. In psychotherapy we bring awareness to our patterns of behaviour, and this gives us more choice. I offer a range of approaches including talking therapy, creative therapy and dreamwork. I would support you to find the approaches that work best for you.
Working with night-time dreams is one of the most effective ways to access understanding beyond what we already know about ourselves. I first trained in dreamwork 25 years ago, and since then have continued to study different approaches to working with dreams. Some of my psychotherapy clients regularly work with dreams and this can deepen the experience of therapy, bringing unexpected insights that can lead to healing and change.
Creative Arts Therapies
For some people, finding ways to express their thoughts and feelings on paper rather than through talking can give a new perspective. This may be mapping things out, such as through mind-maps or timelines. Or it may be using art materials to explore feelings or ideas in a new way. You don’t have to be “artistic” for this to be of benefit. I can offer guidance around how to begin, and between us we would explore what the creative process might be showing us.
I am a qualified supervisor offering clinical supervision to counsellors, therapists, trainees and other professionals.
I have trained in Gestalt, Transpersonal, Person-Centred and Art Therapy approaches to counselling and psychotherapy. I will therefore support you, with an awareness of your modality, while offering perspectives that may add a new dimension to your work if this is useful to you.
As a Gestalt therapist, I am aware that “one size does not fit all”, and will endeavour to work with you to create a supervisory relationship that best suits you. This may include creative interventions if you would like to explore working in this way. I aim for supervision to be both supportive and inspiring.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- How do we begin?
Please email or phone to discuss your situation or ask any questions. We can then arrange an initial session, and if we choose to, commit to a number of sessions (perhaps 4 or 6). After that we may work longer-term if we both feel it would be beneficial to continue.
- What is your Professional Status?
I am a qualified Gestalt Psychotherapist with an Advanced Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy. I also have a diploma in Transpersonal Counselling and a Foundation in Art Therapy. In addition I hold an Advanced Specialist Diploma in Clinical Supervision.
I am an accredited member of BACP and abide by their Code of Ethics. I have ongoing clinical supervision, engage in continued professional development and have professional indemnity insurance.
- Where do you work?
I work both in person and online. I work from therapy rooms in Penzance (Market Jew Street) on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and in Truro (Lemon Street) on Fridays. Online and telephone appointments are available throughout the week.
- Why Dream Embers?
I love to work with imagery. Whilst reflecting on therapy and dreamwork, I had an image of a fire, burning low. I know that this fire can have life breathed back into it, if we give it attention and care. For me, this is about attending to our heart and soul, so that we can be more fully ourselves in the world.
